Bit Space is designed to be a kids-first space populated with adult tools. In service of that goal, we have a 5000 sq. ft. space which we have custom built from the ground up, making everything kid-sized while maintaining strong shop safety standards. Unlike the shop class of yesteryear, we're bright, open, and well-ventilated.
We believe that there are many kids aching to make something real who are unable to do so because of the unavailability, complexity, or potential danger of the tools necessary to do so. Bit Space was brought about as an answer to those three concerns. We have powerful tools of all varieties, the expertise to use them effectively, and the capacity to train young makers in how to use them safely.
Our students quickly learn to use hammers, nails rulers, pliers, clamps, saws, electric screwdrivers, hand-held drills, drill presses, orbital sanders, jigsaws, a laser cutter, 3D printers, a 3D scanner, computers, VR headsets, professional game design software, computer aided design software, Arduino and other microcontrollers, electronics, sensors, and more.
Bit Space is conveniently located at 2541 W Lawrence Ave, just two blocks west of Western Ave in Chicago's Lincoln Square neighborhood. We are closest to the Rockwell Avenue Brown Line stop, but not far from the Western stop too. We have an 8-space parking lot.
